This week is National Volunteer Week, established by President Richard Nixon with an executive order in 1974. This is a national week of service, bringing together people from all walks of life to make a difference. Do you volunteer? I encourage you to share about an experience you had while volunteering. National Doctor's Day

Today ... March 30 is "National Doctor's Day"!! Dr. Peter Marcellus serves as the medical director and main volunteer doctor at Faith Community Health where alongside his wife they each served over 200 volunteer hours during 2010. Hat's off to them and their servant hearts!!! I invite you to share a few encouraging and appreciative words if Dr. Marcellus and/or Connie has touched your life.

Get ready our Open House Block party is just around the corner June 26th! It will be a morning of fun for the entire community. We'll have food, information about the clinic, tours and lots of fun stuff for the kids. SAVE THE DATE......Saturday, June 26th!

Opening Day is upon us!

In the next two weeks, the first patients will be seen at Faith Community Health! The Healthy Lifestyle Coaches at the Ozark Mountain Family YMCA have already been registering patients and encouraging them to live a healthier lifestyle!

The LORD has been gracious and poured out HIS favor upon us with now over $200,000 of in-kind equipment donations and more to come! Each exam room is stocked, and we continue to seek a phoropter for the optical area, and we trust that one will come, too.

We are amazed by the people who are becoming involved as volunteers and are so thankful for our paid staff. Fran Miller serves as our volunteer coordinator. Kathy Hoeck, the administrative assistant and grant writer, is keeping lots of plates spinning at once, and director David Danford has his hands full of lots of details as well.

Our greatest prayer is that the Lord will help bring healing to those who are sick - physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We can't wait to see what HE is going to do through FCH. Stay tuned...

Count Down Begins!

We are fast approaching the Center becoming a reality and anticipate offices will open at the Faith Community Health Center December or sooner. The building renovation continues on track as the space is really shaping up. Our director, David Danford is excited about filling up the additional space with much needed resources for our clients! Watch for upcoming announcements about our move in date.

Patient Centered and Consumer Driven

The evening news reported last night that 48 million Americans are without health insurance. The number is startling but communities across this country are doing something about it. March 13th marks a milestone for the Faith Community Health Center as we kickoff the Center around the community. It's really just the beginning of a long road. Two other comments caught my attention during the evening news, the desire for "patient centered" and "consumer driven" healthcare. It's our goal that we achieve just that for thousands in our surrounding area.
